Our Five-Year Strategy

On 10th June 2024, the Blood Cancer Alliance launched our new five-year strategy: Changing the Conversation Around Blood Cancer

It is our vision for all people with blood cancer to live longer, better lives. To achieve this, we have developed this new strategy which outlines how we will achieve our new mission: To change the conversation around blood cancer in order to improve diagnosis, treatment and care.

We have five strategic goals – which can be defined under two groups:

  • Our goals for blood cancer patients: These are the changes we would like to see within the UK health service and system for the benefit of blood cancer patients.

  • Our goals for UK cancer policymaking: These are the changes we want to see in UK cancer policymaking that will enable the changes we would like to see for blood cancer patients.

Our goals for blood cancer patients:

  • Diagnosis is improved for all blood cancer patients

  • All blood cancer patients have access to kinder, better treatments, trials and care across the UK

  • Health inequalities do not influence access to diagnosis, treatment and support

Our goals for UK cancer policymaking:

  • Blood cancer is recognised as a common cancer

  • Blood cancer is addressed in national cancer strategies, plans and policies

Our strategy was developed in consultation with our members and our stakeholders. We are now moving into delivery phase, and all of our activity and work will be guided by our ambition to meet our goals.
